How to watch IPL 2019 in USA

After a phenomenal season of IPL last year, IPL 2019 edition is all set to start on 23rd March 2019. BCCI hasn’t announced full schedule of 2019 edition of Indian Premier League (IPL) yet but it is expected to span across 53 days at 9 venues starting from March 23rd. If you are wondering how to watch IPL 2019 in USA, read this post. The Board of Cricket Control in India (BCCI) has announced a list of official broadcasters and online streaming websites to watch IPL 2019.  In USA, these are the providers with legal streaming and broadcasting rights:

  • Hotstar USA

Hotstar USA owns the streaming rights for IPL 2019 in USA. Hotstar has recently started to focus on increasing US subscribers base and acquired rights to all major cricketing tournaments to be streamed in USA including WorldCup 2019. Their  subscription plans start from $20/ month or $8/month (if subscribed annually). It includes all STAR channels, Star Original content along with sports content (including kabaddi, hockey etc). Their app is currently available on Apple TV, chromecast, Roku, iOS and Android devices. As a promotion, Hotstar is giving away their annual package for $69.99 which is a steal in my opinion. For 2011 and 2015, just the world cup packages were priced at $120 by Willow and ESPN respectively. Their streaming quality is quite good since they already operate at a high scale in India. Last year, during IPL 2018, they hit concurrent 9.5 million concurrent streams without any issues.

You can use the coupon code CMP9596 to avail $30 discount on annual package. You can reach out to us at if you have any questions.

  • Willow TV

Willow TV owns TV broadcast rights for IPL 2019 in USA. If you have Willow TV subscriptions from your cable TV provider like DirectTV, Dish TV, Comcast etc, you can watch IPL 2019 on the same subscription. It is unclear if Willow TV app subscriptions will allow streaming of IPL 2019 (since Willow TV has acquired only broadcasting rights and not streaming rights for USA). You can sign up on their website for a $10 per month subscription with no long term contracts or lock downs. You can either stream the matches on their website or any of their Apps available on multiple phone (iOS, Android) and TV platforms (SmartTV, Roku, XBox etc). Their streaming quality is quite good and reliable.

  • Sling TV

Sling TV DOES NOT have streaming rights for IPL this year. They have displayed a notice on their website already and you should not sign up with Sling if you are only interested in IPL. Most of the other cricketing action is covered by them though. Sling TV too has good support for various different mobile and IPTV platforms like iOS, Android, XBOX, roku etc.

  • Willow partner channels

Willow has partnership with almost all of the TV providers in USA. If you are already subscribed to any one of them, you can add Willow TV channel at a premium ranging from $3 to $15. Few of their partner TV providers are DirectTV, DishTV, Xfinity, FIOS etc. You can read more about them here.

  • Star Sports using VPN

IPL will be telecast live in India on Hotstar India edition. Hotstar India is region locked and stream won’t be available for people living in USA. One of the workaround is to use a VPN service for as cheap as $3 – $4 per month and stream them live. You could use any of the popular VPN services like NordVPN, Express VPN, Pure VPN etc.
